As a recent graduate, Shay received her BA in Strategic Communications and specializes in ethnic studies, which she studied at Washington State University and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Along with being an Emerging Leaders’ alumni, she also was one of the founders of the (AACC) African American COVID coalition.

Shay transitioned to SWACH after finishing her grant work in her previous role as a community-based worker working on the MCAW (Mobilizing Culturally Appropriate Workforce).

Her prior community experience specialized in connecting and providing resources for marginalized communities and families.

She has collaborated with organizations and coalitions to help combat COVID-19 and provided vaccines and resources to socially vulnerable communities.

Along with her MCAW work, she has helped other organizations, some of which included; SWACH, Molina, The Free Clinic, Evergreen school district, and Washington State University Vancouver.

She has also done work in digital communication - where she has worked closely with churches and other companies to create and publish content such as journals, workbooks, and business planning guides.

Born and raised in SW Washington, she has focused on areas of need, specifically in the public schools where she advocates for students of color.

In her free time, Shay enjoys spending time with her family, taking trips to the coast, and finding new parks to explore with her 4-year-old daughter.
