Technology Mindset Videos Provide Support in a Virtual World

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Southwest Washington, we still find ourselves dealing with the effects of the pandemic. For many, that means returning or continuing to work remotely. Virtual work presents new and difficult challenges that not everyone may feel comfortable with within many professions.

Feeling insecure or uncomfortable with technology can be overwhelming, especially considering how much more we rely on it now than before the pandemic. Building and maintaining relationships, connecting with crucial services, and doing our daily jobs are often more complicated in this new environment.

At SWACH, we recognize how difficult the technological landscape can be to navigate for some people. That's why we launched a new video series called Technology Mindset. The series provides tools to help utilize many virtual spaces. Split into six videos, Technology Mindset provides information that can be useful for both Community Health Workers and other professions alike.

Admittedly, the series isn't for everyone but focuses specifically on the needs of individuals who have less experience with basic technology. The videos cover topics including the ability-mindset matrix, learning technology, communicating with friends and family, and connecting with your healthcare providers. Each video is available in both English and Spanish. The videos are designed to help address feelings of inadequacy with technology. While they are framed for community-based workers in mind, the videos have relevancy in the general public as well.

Organizations including the Washington State Workforce and Vancouver School District collaborated on these videos and have made them available to their communities. We encourage anyone who hopes to improve their comfort level with technology to watch the series.

As we continue to face the challenges presented by the pandemic, it is important to remember that we are a community. By supporting each other, we can help address the problems many people are currently facing. SWACH is grateful to collaborate with countless organizations that are working to keep our region healthy and safe.
