Homelessness IS a health issue, advocates tell Senators

State senators are considering three bills that housing advocates say will have a big impact on homelessness. SWACH partners have provided testimony to help senators understand how homelessness impacts health and the health system. We appreciate their efforts to support the following helpful legisltation:House Bill 1570 (also know as the Washington Housing Opportunities Act) will increase funding for homelessness services in Washington by removing the deed recording fee sunset and allowing County Councils to increase the fees by up to $50.House Bill 2667 provides a fix for the Housing and Essential Needs "cliff" to ensure that people don't lose housing assistance when their disability status changes.House Bill 2578 preserves and expanding rental housing options for persons whose source of income is derived from or includes sources other than employment. To contact your state senators about these important bills click here.
