The first-ever SW CHAPS Community-Based Workforce Expo was a tremendous success!

Over 120 people filled Firstenburg Community Center for the Community Based Workforce Expo on October 18, 2019

The Expo was a time to gather diverse community-basedworkers and organizations, share information about employment resources, andadvocate for this workforce.

A representative from Lifeline Connections talks to participants. Lifelife was one of 21 organizations who tabled at the Expo.

The Community-based workforce includes Community Healthworkers, Peer Specialists, Peer Counselors, Recovery Coaches, Advocates,Patient Navigators, Family Support Specialists, and more! This unique workforcebrings lived experience, understanding of systems, and trusted relationshipswithin the community to support health equity.

Thank you to everyone who attended, organizational partnerswho tabled, community-based workers who shared their experiences, and amazingvolunteers who made it all come together. We are so grateful!

A few highlights from the SW CHAPS Community-Based WorkforceExpo:

  • A planning committee of over 20 community members organized the Expo
  • More than 120 individuals attended
  • 21 partner organizations tabled during the networking portion of the program
  • Partner organizations recruited community-based workers for open positions, shared information about upcoming trainings, and built connections for future collaboration
  • 3 community-based workers spoke about their journeys and experiences in the workforce
  • Expo was featured in The Columbian
  • Sponsorships from Molina Healthcare and SWACH
  • Received 53 evaluations, with very positive feedback—attendees felt connected and hopeful, and appreciated the sense of community and learning about employment opportunities
