Accounting Manager, Full-time

The Accountant Manager, reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, is responsible for managing the general accounting functions and overseeing the accurate preparation of financial data. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of the financial records and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounting Functions

•General Ledger Management

a. Oversee daily accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

b. Monitor and analyze accounting data to ensure accuracy and completeness.

c. Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Compliance and Auditing

a. Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and company policies.

b. Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

c. Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.

• Tax Compliance

a. Prepare and review tax returns and filings, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

b. Coordinate with tax advisors and external auditors as needed.

• Financial Analysis

a. Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance of contract spending.

b. Provide support for financial planning and analysis for program initiatives.

• Systems and Processes

a. Optimize and streamline accounting processes to improve efficiency.

b. Work with other departments to implement accounting software upgrades and ensure system integrity.

c. Maintain the fixed asset and depreciation, and other balance sheet account schedules.

Collaborative Leadership

• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support.

• Manage workflow and delegate tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities.

• Participate in the recruitment, training, and development of accounting personnel.

• Support the success and opportunities of learning and growth for staff

• Ensure that the Accounting Department workplan duties are carried out effectively.

• Foster meaningful progress towards Department staff assigned projects or program areas.

• Demonstrate good decision-making skills in a thoughtful and reflective manner.

• Foster an equitable and inclusive culture of trust, respect, and mutual accountability.

Qualifications-Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position is qualifying.

This would typically include:

• Bachelors degree from accredited college/university, or equivalent combination of education and experience with a focus in Accounting, Finance, or other related field

• 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial management

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial regulations

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work is performed both virtually and in-person in an office setting.

• Ability to spend long periods working on a computer and using office equipment.

• Using the telephone, virtual platforms, and/or face-to-face meetings to connect and collaborate with others.

• Drafting, evaluating, editing, and reading documents.

Annual Salary: $88,096.32 - $92,990.56
