Advocacy Day at the Capitol

Southwest Washington Accountable Community of Health (SWACH) has reinvested in Policy and Advocacy initiatives and efforts through our Equity and Collaborative Impact Department. While SWACH has always been committed to advocacy and policy work, this new focus allows us to concentrate more of our efforts on leveraging community voice to enact real change at the local, state, regional and national level.

As part of this commitment to advocacy, SWACH participated in Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Day on January 30th. Teaming up with Council for the Homeless, SWACH helped over 90 area residents travel to the Capitol by bus and personal vehicles to advocate on behalf of rent stabilization, specifically House Bill 2114 and Senate Bill 5961. While we didn’t see the result many were hoping for with these bills, we are grateful to our community for showing up and lending their voice to advocacy efforts.
