Cowlitz Indian Tribe
The legacy of an ancient people in southwest Washington is rich with descendants who manage a growing portfolio of health, education, scientific research, housing, transportation, development, elder care, conservation and legal issues. Today, an elected Tribal Council is composed of professionals adept at managing multiple programs and projects.
Generations before the advance of the modern world, the lands of the Yakama extended in all directions along the Cascade Mountain Range to the Columbia River and beyond. The Yakama is a Native American tribe with thousands of members enrolled in the federally recognized tribe, the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation. Yakama Nation oversees a wide range of programs ranging from physical and behavioral health to cultural resources and employment services.
Cowlitz Tribal Health Clinic – Longview
The goal of the Cowlitz Indian Tribal Health Clinic is to provide a Holistic Approach to Health Care that promotes Disease Prevention, Treatment, and Education. The Longview location provides medical and mental health services.
Cowlitz Tribal Health Clinic – Vancouver
The Vancouver location of the Cowlitz Indian Tribal Health Clinic provides mental health services ranging from counseling to medication management to parenting classes.
Indian Health Services
The Portland Area Indian Health Service provides access to health care for an estimated 150,000 American Indian/Alaska Native residents of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
Washington Tribal Opioid Solutions
The One Tribal opioid campaign is designed to inform and educate Tribal communities about the dangers of prescription drug misuse and the importance of safe storage, use and disposal. The Journey to Recovery campaign is designed to inform and educate Tribal communities about available treatment resources.
